I’ve been recognized – by my peer – for spreading sunshine.
Recognition of your efforts is always a nice thing. So I appreciate Maarten Van Lier of Million in 10 for spreading a little sunshine my way.
If you haven’t yet heard Maarten’s fabulous story about his goal of reaching the millionaire status in ten years, please do listen to this episode (How to Create a $300,000 in the Bank Attitude) of the Midday Money Show.
So back to sunshine…
What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?
The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are inspiring and bring sunshine into the lives of their readers and fellow bloggers. It’s a nice way to recognize a fellow blogger for the unsung work that goes on in the background. Yay!
The Rules:
- Thank the person that nominated you
- Answer the questions from the person that nominated you
- Nominate some other bloggers for this award
- Write the same amount of questions for the bloggers you have nominated
- Notify the bloggers you have nominated
Here are Maarten’s questions for me:
- If you were able to retire early, what would you do after retirement?
- If you could go back in time and meet with someone that is no longer with us, who would it be?
- What is your ultimate financial goal?
- What is the one lesson you want people to walk away with from your blog?
- What did you want to be growing up and was blogging even remotely on your mind?
1. Early retirement: I haven’t thought so much about retirement specifically because I wholly intend to be doing what I love and that’s helping people eliminate debt. In some form, I hope to teach, motivate, and inspire as long as I have my faculties. I want to spend my life pursuing my dream and that’s not something you willingly walk away from. Or so that’s what I say now. Talk to me again in 40 years!
2. Dinner with whom? If I could meet anyone, it would definitely be my ancestor who first came to this country. I’d like to know how they arrived, what they were doing before they left, and where from where they hailed. That would give me an opportunity to trace my lineage up to today. As it stands, I don’t have any more information beyond great-great grandparents; and even that is super sketchy. Tracing my family’s history has been of interest for some time. Let’s hope I get to it before retirement!
3. My ultimate financial goal is to be 100% debt free so that I honestly owe no man anything, but the debt of love. I want to operate all future investments and/or business endeavors from a 100% debt free perspective.
4. I blog because I want others to be inspired to achieve their financial goals. When you can see it, you can be it. That’s why I pour so much energy into the blog and podcast. I want anyone who crosses my virtual path to be convinced that debt freedom is possible.
5. Growing up – I just wanted to be away from my parents. LOL. Which is funny, because they were great parents. They did what they needed to do. I don’t really remember having any big dreams except to one day be a singer. My mom dashed that hope when I was really young when she gave it to me straight – I really didn’t have the talent in that area (I can’t carry a tune in a bucket). This was before Brittany Spears and auto tune. I don’t hold it against her – who knew. However, I’ve always realized I had an affinity for the written word. It never crossed my mind to make a living as a writer…but life doesn’t always unfold in expected ways. I’m just happy for wherever the adventure takes me.
Now on to spread a little more sunshine. I nominate Aja McClanahan (America’s Financial Sweetheart) from Principles of Increase. The Joneses (you can keep up with them as the dump debt), and Elle of CoupleMoney because she’s just about the sunshinyest blogger I know.
My questions for you all are:
- If you were a financial super hero, what would your super hero name and power be?
- What would you do if your 18 year old tells you they have applied for a credit card?
- What is your ultimate financial goal?
- What can people expect to learn when they visit your blog?
- If you could take an all expense paid vacation to any place, where would you go?
